Territory of American Samoa
|ISO3166-1 Codes||AS, ASM, 162|
“Settled as early as 1000 B.C., Samoa was not reached by European explorers until the 18th century. International rivalries in the latter half of the 19th century were settled by an 1899 treaty in which Germany and the US divided the Samoan archipelago. The US formally occupied its portion - a smaller group of eastern islands with the excellent harbor of Pago Pago - the following year.”
CIA's The World Factbook (2013)6
As a territory of the USA I do not have many specific statistics for this territory in its own right.
Data from the Pew Forum, a professional polling outfit, states that in 2010 the religious makeup of this country was as follows in the table below7:
The CIA World Factbook has slightly different data, and states: Christian Congregationalist 50%, Roman Catholic 20%, Protestant and other 30%8.
There isn't much information in the database for American Samoa, most likely because it is either a part of another country (i.e., a territory or possession) and therefore most international statistics are counted for the country as a whole, or, this is such an exotic place that little data exists about it.
